I was wandering around the internet and found this little gem. For those that do not know, Quora is a Q&A website created, organized and edited by the internet masses or "community". The community generated answers to the question "What are the biggest popular misconceptions about postgraduate study?" made me laugh...then cry inside a little.
It appears good careers in science are hard to come by. This is concerning not just as a PhD holder. But as a taxpayer. After investing 10+ years of taxpayer-funded training into postdocs, I want them to stay in academia to do science. My fear is that this generation of scientists is disillusioned about their long-term prospects. Leading them to quit their science careers.
What do you think? Are these answers fair?
