About

Just like the proverbial sausage, “how science is made” can be dirty. How Science is Made the blog is dedicated to the dirtier side of STEM research. If you want to succeed as an academic researcher, or if you want to leave, you need to understand the issues facing STEM scientists today.

To this end, I write about the politics, funding, and ethics of STEM research. I also explore solutions, alternative careers (#altac) and offer soft skill advice.

I made this pig. It sums up some of my thoughts on how Academic Research is conducted.
